Bio-safety Lab Contaminant Control

A careful approach is required to design the ventilation of laboratories and Bio-safety labs to maintain safety and protection to life and property. Major challenge is to control the contaminant propagation, as well as the operation of the equipment such as the Bio safety cabinets, fume hoods etc.

At DEINDE we ensure the desired performance of the ventilation system in such labs. We use CFD analysis to validate the effectiveness of ventilation systems and compliance to the applicable standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, OSHA) at design stage.

During a typical study of contaminant behavior, following parameters for indoor air quality are analysed:

  • Local Air Quality Index (LAQI), Local Mean Age of Air (LMA)
  • Contaminant Travel Path, Relative Humidity, Temperature
